If there is one thing I love most in the world it is junkin & pickin!
I wait all year for flea market season where the streets are lined with goodies! This past week I found a trunk I just new I had to have! Isn’t she a beauty? The best part? It was only $3… Yupp $3!
(Side note: I got the little one too because why not?!)
All you will need for this incredible transformation is:
- Spray paint
- A trunk… duhh
- E-6000 Glue (Optional)
- Metal letters/numbers (Optional)
Start by cleaning off your trunk… as you can tell mine was a bit dusty! I just used a bucket of water and some soap. The difference was already incredible!
Once you’ve let your trunk dry completely tape off the parts of your trunk that you would like to paint and go for it! I decided to use Rust-Oleum Robbin’s Egg paint & primer. Using this matte paint I did not need a base coat which saved me a lot of time! I also decided to get a top coat, as I am hoping to use this table as an end for my bed or a coffee table in my soon to be apartment… Suggestions?!
Bryan is a much better spray painter than I am so I asked him to help out! I often get too impatient and mess up my project in the process… opps!
I absolutely LOVE that I decided to leave the top strip of the trunk unpainted. It helped hold some of the original charm that brought me to this beauty in the first place!
While I loved my trunk the way it was I knew it was still missing something. I found these adorable little numbers at Michaels at just couldn't pass them up.
Originally, I wanted the numbers to be larger, but looking at my project finished I am so glad I found these!
After I applied the numbers with a little E-6000 glue my trunk was complete!
The numbers added a perfect little touch to make this project my own
*Any Les Mis fans out there? If so you’ll understand my number choice
All day I have been singing “Who am I? 24601!” It’s an obsession I’m telling you!*
