DIY - Ash Tray Ring Dish

by - June 21, 2017

Okay guys I have a confession to make… I am a hoarder… a ring hoarder that is! Over the years I have started a collection that is only growing. Every time I go to a new antique store or flea market I can’t resist buying a unique ring or two to remember my adventure
As much as I love my little beauties I am constantly misplacing them! This new DIY is definitely one of my favorites because not only does it solve my problem, but it is adorable!!😉
Here is what you’ll need:
  1. An old ash tray (I found mine at salvation army)
  2. Pressed flowers
  3. Clear epoxy
The first thing you’ll need to do is pick a few flowers. You can run to your garden or a field somewhere (I did a little bit of both). Once you have your flowers place them on a paper towel and close them in a large book for a day or two. I know I know… the waiting is killer but I promise it will be worth it! Make sure you pick a variety of different flowers/leaves they will all look a bit different once they are dry so it is nice to have a lot to pick from!

Once you have waited a long two days you are ready to start! Head to salvation army (or another store) and pick out your ash tray! When you find one or two (or five) that you like wash it out the best you can. Soap and water works perfectly or you could run it through the dish washer! Dry off the tray completely before moving on!

Pick out what dried/pressed flowers you like the best and lay them along the bottom of your tray – Using tweezers on some of the smaller flowers helps a lot! I used E-600 glue to make sure the flowers didn’t move at all!

When the flowers are all in place follow the directions on the box of your epoxy and slowly pour a thin layer on top of your flowers! It might have a lot of bubbles at first, but these will go away on their own.

Follow the suggested wait time (typically a day or two) to let your epoxy dry fully & you’re done! I have these little trays all over my apartment & I am so in love with every single one of them!! They are perfect to keep by the kitchen and bathroom sink!
