Framed Wall Art DIY
Hello Friends!
Today I have an incredibly easy DIY to share with you! It all started with two picture frames my grandma was getting rid of. There was something about them that I adored and I knew I had to save them for something special. Well, that time has come!
Soon I will be moving into my very first apartment – YAY! – & I needed a little something to spice up the blank walls, while wandering through Michaels I found some cute little quotes and thought up the simplest DIY ever! Are you ready for this?!
There are two different ways to go about this DIY so there is plenty of room to make it your own! Here is what you will need:
- Old picture frames (wooden or metal) – Check out your local salvation army
- Cute quotes/art to put inside your frames. The ones I have can be found here!
- *OPTIONAL: Spray paint*
First you will have to decide if you would like to leave your picture frames natural, or give them a little pop of color! I decided to leave my grandmas old frames natural! They had so much charm I was scared messing with them was a bad idea, so naturally I got a bunch of other frames to try it out both ways!
(Grandmas old frames – How cute are these?)
If you decide to spray paint your frames it is easiest to take them apart completely so you do not get spray paint on the glass (as pictured below). Make sure you sand the frames before you begin spray painting or the paint will not stick well – also it is always a good idea to add a white base coat to ensure your paint goes on evenly!
Once you’ve completed this step chose your top coat and spray away!
Now that your picture frames are complete it is time to chose the art you want to put inside! You may have to cut the pictures down a bit but once they are in the frame no one will notice!
Feel free to get creative with this step! Old maps can even be used to create a vintage effect – this map piece has already been claimed by Bryan & is going to find a home on his desk! There are so many possibilities when it comes to a DIY as simple as this! Check out some of the creations I have made and feel free to share yours!
