Be Your own Valentine
Love yourself -
Spending Valentines Day Alone? No Problem! Check out these tips on how to "Be Your own Valentine" this year!
Coffee Date
TAKE YOURSELF OUT!
I am a firm believer that coffee shops can be the most productive, and unproductive place to be all at the same time. Whatever you're looking for this is the answer! If you have something you've been wanting to get done (reading a book, writing a paper, scrolling through pinterest...) or if you just wanna write about nothing/try something new (like blogging or poetry) a local coffee shop is the place to be.
Heck, I'm sitting at Kaya Coffee House right now writing this post! There is something special about writing at a local, charming coffee shop, even if it is about nothing - give it a try!
Pamper Yourself
Pamper Yourself
On Valentines Day it is okay to splurge, even on yourself! There are so many ways you can 'pamper yourself' this holiday!
- Go get your nails done & don't even think about the price! Today is about YOU so live it up! Wanna stay in today? That works too! Grab your favorite polish & paint away.
- Try a face mask! If you aren't one to normally do this, why not give it a try today?! Grab yourself a face mask & embrace the fact that you are being totally 'basic"
- Take a Bubble Bath I'm talking candles & all! Maybe bring in your speaker and listen to some calming music, or bring your laptop and watch your favorite series on Netflix!
- Girls Night for one! Take all of the elements from a basic girls night: nail polish, face masks, wine, a romantic comedy, some junk food enjoy it on your own! Nothing is wrong with taking some time for yourself to enjoy the little things in life!
- Try on Makeup Why? Why not?! If there is a style you've been wanting to try, or if you're just looking to update your style today is the day to try it out! Listen to some music & have fun with it.
Create
Is there a DIY you've been wanting to try? Well today is the day! Put your thinking cap on & create - create anything that comes to mind! Don't have any ideas? It's okay! Check out some of my other posts or scroll through Pinterest until something catches your eye!
Creating does not always have to be extravagant! Try dabbling in photography, writing a poem, or even coloring. Express yourself!
Relatives
Relatives
Chances are if you're planning on spending this Valentines Day alone there is someone in your family/friend group that is feeling the same way! Bring them along with you to the coffee shop, visit older relatives that do not get a lot of attention, call someone who hasn't heard your voice in a while, buy your siblings something nice for valentines day. There is something beautiful about making someone else's day - it can work wonders on your own mood!
I'm a believer in karma so share the love!
Journal
Journal anything at all! There is a certain level of clarity when you are writing down thoughts, hopes, dreams, or even ideas!
You could even take this time to update your weekly planner! Don't have one? Well now seems like the perfect time to get organized!
I am a huge fan of journaling & the benefits that come from it! Start a book of positivity - at the end of each day write one thing that made your day! This can impact your mood in ways you could not possibly imagine!
Take a 'cheat day'
Today is about YOU & the last thing you need to be doing is counting calories, or preventing yourself from trying out that new cookie recipe!
Put your rule book away just for one day! Don't feel like going to the gym? Don't go! Really want to eat those chocolates you got at work? Eat away - no one is going to stop you! It can be our little secret.
Regardless of what your plans are on Valentines Day, take some time to be your own Valentine and show yourself some love!
So often we take ourselves for granted - start working on that today!
Love always,
Hailey
